Yes, you can easily visit dudhsagar falls by car. You need to drive to the Colem (Kulem) parking lot, safely park your rental car, and then book a mandatory government-approved jeep safari that takes you through the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary to the falls.
Dudhsagar (literally "Sea of Milk") is one of India's tallest and most magnificent waterfalls, plunging from a height of 310 meters. Located deep inside the Bhagwan Mahavir Wildlife Sanctuary, visiting it requires a bit of planning. While many tourists opt for expensive guided tours, doing it yourself with a self-drive rental car is cheaper, more flexible, and incredibly fun.
The Drive: How to Get There
Private cars are not allowed all the way to the waterfall. The journey consists of two parts:
Part 1: Driving to Colem (Kulem)
Set your Google Maps destination to "Dudhsagar Jeep Safari Stand, Colem". Depending on where you're staying, the drive takes:
- From North Goa (Baga/Calangute): ~2 hours (70 km)
- From South Goa (Palolem): ~1.5 hours (55 km)
- From Panjim: ~1.5 hours (60 km)
The drive itself is gorgeous, taking you away from the coastline and into the lush, green hinterlands of Goa.
Part 2: The Jeep Safari
Once you reach Colem, you will park your rental car in the designated paid parking lot. From here, you must rent a seat in a government-operated 4x4 Bolero jeep. The jeeps take you on a bumpy, thrilling 45-minute off-road trail through rivers and dense forests to the base of the waterfall.

- Forest Entry Fee: ₹50 per person.
- Car Parking at Colem: ~₹100 for the day.
Important Tips for Your Visit
- Book online in advance: The Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC) now allows you to book the jeep safari online. We strongly recommend doing this, as they cap the number of jeeps allowed into the sanctuary per day.
- Best time to visit: The waterfall is most spectacular just after the monsoon (October to December). Note: The jeep safari is closed during heavy monsoons (June to September) for safety reasons.
- What to wear: Wear comfortable clothes and shoes with good grip. The rocks near the waterfall are slippery. Bring a change of clothes if you plan to swim.
- Food & Water: Carry a water bottle and some snacks. There are very limited food options inside the sanctuary, though you'll find small stalls selling tea and Maggie near the base of the falls.
